Starting from February 2013, all processing of applying visa (STUDENT PASS) for new student and
renewing a student visa (EXISTING STUDENT) is through Education Malaysia Global Services
(EMGS) and EMGS will submitted on behalf of the university to the Immigration.

A- QUESTION RELATED TO STUDENT PASS

 

How long the process of applying visa took?

For new student, the process may took about three (3 )months. This mean if student plan to study in Malaysia he/she must apply at     least four to five( 4-5) months before the date of registration of UNISEL.

 

For existing student, it took about one and half (1 ½) month. Therefore please report to the International Student Centre (ISC) two (2) month before the expiry date of the visa.

What document needed for renewing a student pass?

Please refer to renewal visa document checklist.

 

Can i bring along my family to stay in Malaysia while study?

Yes, provided that you are postgraduate student and dependance pass will be apply for your family once you get your student pass. However, the charges has to be bear by yourself.

What if i want to bring my family together when i enter to Malaysia?

You can bring your family using social visit pass issue by the Immigration.

What if i am a undergraduate student?

Your family can visit you anytime at their convinient using the social pass.

 

How long the social pass valid?

Normally, the duration is two (2) week to (1) a months, subject to Immigration approval.
How long the student pass valid?
Normally, it valid for a (1) year and renewal need to be continue until your study last. You need to report to the International Student Center (ISC) to renewal the visa two (2) month before the expiry date of the visa.
 

E.g: Student pass expired on 01 August 2013, complete document and passport send to ISC latest on 01 Jun 2013.

What if i fail to do so?
Immigration will charge compaund minimum of RM5,000.00 and university are not responsible for the charge and you will be place in a prison for investigation.

 

B- HEALTH AND MEDICAL ISSUE@ EMGS
QUESTION RELATED TO MEDICAL SCREENING.

Do I need to do medical screening in my country of origin?
Starting Feb 2013, international student are compulsary to do medical screening within 7 days arrival in Malaysia. If you wish to do in your country origin, the report are not valid for medical screning process.
 

What document needed for screening process?

1- Letter of Undertaking @ EMGS
2- Foreign Student Consent Form @ EMGS
3- Health Examination Report Form @ EMGS

 

What if i fail my medical screening?
You can appeal for second chances by complete the document below;

 

1- Letter of Undertaking @ EMGS
2- Appeal letter for medical Screening @ EMGS.
3- Foreign Student Concern Form @ EMGS
4- Health Examination Report Form @ EMGS

 

What if the appeal fail?
The student must go back to the country of origin immediately and student shall pay their own ticket flight charge. Fail or unfit the medical screening means that student are no longer UNISEL’s student. Do take note that if student fail to do so, UNISEL are not responsible for any cosequences.

 

Where to do a screening process?

Student can go to any 2,000 listed panel clinic nearby. Refer list of panel clinic @ EMGS. A clinic must be reward as Qualities Clinic Award (Q).

QUESTION RELATED TO INSURANCE

Do I have option for my insurance plan?

University only apply a minimum policy for you. If you need better coverage you can upgrade your policy. Any upgrading will involved additional charges on your own.Please take note downgrade of insurance policy are not allowed.

 

However if student more than 60 years old, the insurance policy will be different.For more info, please read insurance packages @ EMGS.

 

C-GENERAL QUESTION
If I plan to study in Malaysia and get the offer from UNISEL, when can i book my flight or enter to Malaysia?
You can enter Malaysia once the Verification Approval Letter (VAL) been issue by the Immigration and email to you by the UNISEL officer in charge.

How would i travel from airport to the university (UNISEL)?
UNISEL will arrange an officer to fetch you in the airport. Flight information need to be sent immediate by email to admission@unisel.edu.my and call 03-55223432/35/36 to inform.

 

When is the best time to buy a flight ticket?
It is advisable two (2) week before date of UNISEL Registration Day subject to VAL issue.

 

Can I work during my study time?
No, you are not allowed to work while study.
